  1.  A stack of carton blanks is loaded onto the infeed section of the feeder.
  2. As the rotary table or drum rotates, the pockets or vacuum cups pick up individual carton blanks from the stack.
  3. The blanks are then transferred to the forming section of the carton-forming machine.
  4.  The process repeats continuously, ensuring a steady supply of carton blanks.

Rotary feeders are known for their high speed and efficiency, making them suitable for high-volume production runs. They can handle a wide range of carton sizes and materials, including corrugated and paperboard. Additionally, rotary feeders are often equipped with advanced features like double-sheet detection and blank alignment systems, ensuring accurate and consistent feeding.

Bump Feeders

Bump feeders, on the other hand, operate on a different principle. Instead of a rotating mechanism, these feeders use a reciprocating motion to feed carton blanks. Here’s how they work:

  1.  A stack of carton blanks is loaded onto the infeed section of the feeder.
  2. A pusher plate or “bump” mechanism moves forward, pushing the top blank from the stack onto the forming section.
  3. The pusher plate then retracts, allowing the next blank to be fed.
  4. This process repeats, with the pusher plate moving back and forth to feed individual carton blanks.

Bump feeders are often preferred for smaller production runs or when handling delicate or specialized carton materials. They offer gentle handling, reducing the risk of damage to the carton blanks. Additionally, bump feeders are generally more compact and require less floor space compared to rotary feeders.
